March 20th is not only the beginning of spring, but also the day of the burning snowman ("Burning Snowman Day")! And who doesn’t know the longing for warmth and sun after all these months full of darkness, cold and snow ?! To match this, Weltenwandler implemented a real cartoon animation. A declaration of love for everyone for whom spring cannot come soon enough ...
And who would have thought, according to THIS article, a big snowman is actually burned in Weinheim every year!
This is a classic frame-by-frame animation, i.e. an animation made up of individual images. In this case 12 images per second. We normally work with Adobe After Effects to create motion graphics, but we used the Clip Studio Paint program for this type of animation. An animation update with EbSynth!
We experimented internally with the EbSynth software. An exciting way to change the style of a complete animation with just a few changed keyframes. We did that to the poor exploding snowman. While there was still enough to do (such as manually masking the fire), it was still an impressive thing! Here is the result:
